It was Confirmation Sunday and here are the students’ faith essays. Enjoy!

Abby Barker

Confirmation verse

Joshua 1:9 “I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord God is with you wherever you go.”

What were the highlights of your confirmation experience?

My highlights of this program throughout the years has most definitely been all the church camp retreats I’ve been able to attend. Every time it was super fun to play games outside and inside, sit by the fire to tell stories, and put together a ton of puzzles, which I wasn’t the best at helping, but everyone else seemed to enjoy them. And then my other highlight was confirmation last year, when we would go to different churches every so often and meet new people and pastors.

How did your faith in God grow over the two-year program?

During the program, I’ve gotten the chance to grow my relationship with God in many ways but the one that has impacted my life the most was being able to pay attention in church and understand more. Before confirmation, I could never really understand what the sermon was about or pay attention to the stories very well. But now after all these confirmation classes I can now understand the sermon and the message and learn a few things from it. This helps me get closer to God and learn more.

How do you plan to participate in the life of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church after confirmation?

After confirmation I plan to stay connected with Our Savior’s by continuing to attend the worship service every Sunday and hopefully in the future help out with the Sunday school program. Sunday school was such a fun time for me when I was younger to participate in. I loved all the singing, plays, and crafts we would do and I would love to help with that in any way possible.

Joseph Morehouse

Confirmation verse

Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

What were the highlights of your confirmation experience?

The highlight of confirmation to me probably was mainly seeing people. We can all agree that 2020 and the time Covid has been around has been rough, especially with all of the lockdown so it’s just been nice to get out of the house and see people.

How did your faith in God grow over the two-year program?

Well, the truth is it didn’t. I came and stayed for my family. Although I don’t believe I still have learned about the religion. The workbook and countless tests have made me learn about things like sacraments.

How do you plan to participate in the life of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church after confirmation?

I probably plan on showing up on Sundays with my family occasionally. Or maybe showing up at certain events. Though I guess I could never leave the church because the church is a community whether you believe or not. So as long as I’m contributing to the community I’ll always be participating in the church.

Henry Schultz

Confirmation verse

Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”

What were the highlights of your confirmation experience?

My highlight of confirmation was that my faith grew. At the time I didn’t know why I had to go. But now that I look back on it I know why I had to go and I’m glad. My faith is a lot stronger now.

How did your faith in God grow over the two-year program?

My faith grew a lot. The first year I learned not so much. It didn’t make sense. But the second year we learned a lot more. Granted, I paid more attention. But we didn’t play games before confirmation. So we found our own ways to have fun.

How do you plan to participate in the life of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church after confirmation?

Well as you may know I run the cameras with Gene. I plan on staying as long as I’m needed. When or if I’m not needed I will sub in for acolyte and usher.

Natalie Schultz

Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

What were the highlights of your confirmation experience?

The highlights of the program for me were being able to learn more about the Bible and God. I liked being able to learn and grow with other students. A highlight I really enjoyed was last year when all of the churches did confirmation together. It was fun being able to play games and have fun with everyone else.

How did your faith in God grow over the two-year program?

My relationship with God grew through the program because I learned more about him. God made me realize that He has always been helping us and will always be there for me. Now that confirmation is over, it’s made me more comfortable praying  to him. It’s easier to see how God helps us in our everyday lives.

I plan on staying connected with Our Savior’s by going to church on Sundays. I plan on also helping out with the nursery and kids that need to be watched during church service. Another thing I want to do would be acolyting. Finally I will plan on doing some charity events to help out the church.
