This week we confirmed four of our youth. Here are their faith essays that they delivered in lieu of a sermon:

Austin Edwards

Confirmation verse-Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

  1. What were the highlights of your confirmation experience?

The highlights for me were getting to socialize and connect with Pastor Sean, Linda, and the other confirmation students. Another thing I enjoyed was being able to do entertaining things outside of the church like going to Camp Amnicon. I am grateful for the great times I have had in this program.

  1. How did your faith God grow over the 2-year program?

Throughout the program I got to learn many things that I had never known before about God. This helped me gain my hope and trust in him as I will wish to continue those feelings. This program helped me recognize those thoughts and help them grow as I grow older.

  1. How do you plan on participating in the life of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church after confirmation?

After confirmation, I will try to do as much as I can to support and stay connected to the church. I wish to get the opportunity someday in the future whether it is just attending or helping them someday. The confirmation class and the church will always have a special place in my heart and I thank them for the time and effort they put into teaching me and the other students.

Kate Porter

Confirmation verse-Joshua 1:9 “I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

  1. What were the highlights of your confirmation experience?

When I think about this confirmation class and my favorite things, the first thing that comes to mind is the retreat. It was so fun to get away from the church and get to know everyone better and explore around. We all had lots of fun on that trip.

  1. How did your faith God grow over the 2-year program?

My relationship with God has grown throughout this program by having reasons to come and enjoy church. Having people I know and want to be here with helps a lot. Having us acolyte makes me come into church, listen, and learn instead of sitting at home. I just feel closer to God by being involved and at church.

  1. How do you plan on participating in the life of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church after confirmation?

I will stay connected with Our Savior’s after confirmation by staying involved with the choir and the people. I have met a lot of really nice people that will make me want to come back and see.

Jayce Rue

Confirmation verse-John 3:16 “‘For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.”

  1. What were the highlights of your confirmation experience?

I had a lot of highlights with this program. I had fun spending time with friends and getting to know them better. I had a fun time at Camp Amnicon with Pastor and my friends. And I had fun learning more about God with them too.

  1. How did your faith God grow over the 2-year program?

My relationship with God grew more throughout my two years of confirmation because it got me reading the Bible more. We started writing about him. We read about what life was like with him before he died on the cross. And outside of confirmation it made me think about things before I do them.

  1. How do you plan on participating in the life of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church after confirmation?

I plan on staying connected with our church by attending Sunday’s service when I can. And when I am not there, I can try to do it online and watch the service. And when I’m here I can help out with the service. I had a fun 2 years at confirmation and getting to learn more about God.

Brendan Farrell

Confirmation verse-Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me.”

  1. What were the highlights of your confirmation experience?

One of the highlights was going out to Camp Amnicon with my friends. I had a lot of fun out there both years that I went. Another highlight was the classes. Yeah, we do our work, but we also have fun and talk. Both years I got to talk to people I normally wouldn’t talk to.

  1. How did your faith God grow over the 2-year program?

Before this, I didn’t really pray often, and after starting confirmation, I made praying a priority in my daily schedule. When I pray, before I go to bed, it gives me a sense of ease, like everything will be okay. I also feel closer to God and I feel more connected with him.

  1. How do you plan on participating in the life of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church after confirmation?

I plan to come and acolyte at church on Easter and Christmas, as well as helping with the A/V system on occasions. I will continue to help the church when need it, as well as taking my future kids and grandkids to church.
